Why Psychotherapy?
It's not easy living in this world. Stress comes at us relentlessly, both visibly and by surprise. One day we may feel fine and the next we can barely cope. Plus each stage of life brings new challenges, almost always with increasing complexity and nuance - childhood, adolescence, young adulthood, marriage, career, middle age, retirement, etc. We all find ourselves at one point or another getting stuck, lost or overwhelmed in navigating life.
The mind is a fragile thing, and it needs continual care and attention to function properly. Numerous research studies support the primacy of mental and emotional health for physical health and longevity, and also for reducing overall medical expenses. A healthy mind helps the body stay healthy in powerful ways, and healthy relationships are central to keeping a sound mind.
Psychotherapy can be a powerful tool in promoting emotional health and well being. The time and money spent investing in the process can pay enormous dividends, both in the short term and the long term. New, more healthy relational patterns can literally impact generations to come. People who have engaged in the therapy process over time often report improved relationships in terms of depth and satisfaction, greater stress tolerance and resilience, a greater sense of peace, equanimity and purpose, and awareness of having more gratitude in the midst of their circumstances.
